Clash of the Titans As the Year comes to a close

The country’s most popular musical artistes, Oliver Mtukudzi and Alick Macheso, will once again, for the second time this year, return to the stage in a show dubbed “Titanic Clash” on December 2 at the Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza. After the resounding success of a similar show in August, the musicians will be looking forward to treating their fans to another top-drawer event.
“We are hosting the same show again because since the August gig people have not stopped asking us to host the clash again and we will have decided to do exactly that. “This is a response to their demand,” said the event manger, Joseph Habis. He said in August the show had attracted over 5 000 people from all walks of life and they were expecting similar attendance in December.

Habis said unlike last time, the show would cost $5 throughout the night. This is against the background that revellers had to fork out more after the price was up to $10 as the night progressed. “The show will start at 7pm with a performance by Tryson Chimbetu who also did a great job in August as supporting act and after that the two gurus will have the stage to themselves to please their fans however they like,” said Habis.

He said because of punters’ response to their performances in August, the artistes themselves had promised bigger and better acts in the December show. Habis said they were also considering involving other popular artistes in the “Titanic Clash” and were seriously thinking of approaching Winky D and the son of the late sungura giant, Tongai “Dhewa” Moyo, Peter. “It is amazing how this clash has attracted big crowds. We are hoping to expand it in many ways that will soon be revealed,” he said. (NewsDay)
